Chevrolet HHR Panel SS Turbo

Chevrolet HHR Panel SS TurboAt the 2007 SEMA Show, Chevrolet revealed the HHR Panel SS – a customised vision that previews a forthcoming production model differing only slightly from the stylised SEMA concept. The Panel SS fuses the production HHR SS's turbocharged powertrain and race track-bred suspension with the unique HHR Panel body style.

"It was natural that our designers and engineers brought up the 'what if' question when it came to the HHR SS and the HHR Panel," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. "They were given the nod to pursue it and we think the result is fun and exciting; it amplifies the very best attributes that have made the HHR so popular with customers."

The HHR Panel SS concept combines production components with custom details. And while the concept vehicle will be shown at events around the country, the HHR Panel SS limited-edition production model will be offered at Chevy dealers starting in the 2009 model year.

Chevrolet HHR Panel SS TurboThe underpinnings and powertain of the HHR Panel SS concept include the production turbocharged and intercooled 2.0L Ecotec engine that produces 260 horsepower (194 kW), unique exterior styling and an SS-specific interior. The exterior details include production SS front and rear fascias, rocker panels, a modified SS front grille and an SS rear spoiler. It also features polished metal body side trim and 20-inch wheels that are unique to the concept vehicle, while a "suede" paint scheme has a satin appearance that recalls classic hot rods.

Inside, SS-embroidered sport seats – with suede-like Ultra Lux inserts – a new gauge cluster with 140-mph speedometer, an A-pillar boost gauge and a new, driver-oriented steering wheel support the vehicle's performance capability. The cargo area – there is no rear seat – has been customised with billet aluminium tie-downs, floor strips and load brackets.

Underneath, a tuned suspension based on the production SS's FE5 Sport suspension enables sharp ride and handling, but was modified slightly for the SEMA concept vehicle to accommodate the larger-than-production 20-inch wheels and tyres. The FE5 suspension was developed and tuned at Germany's famed Nurburgring racing circuit and includes specific stabiliser bars, spring rates and damper tuning – all designed to complement the turbocharged powertrain. Along with its high-performance attributes, the HHR SS is equipped with a host of safety and convenience features, including the StabiliTrak vehicle stability control system and four-wheel disc brakes with ABS.

Chevrolet Camaro Concept

Chevrolet Camaro ConceptCombining dramatic design and exciting performance, the Chevrolet Camaro Concept recaptures the spirit of one of the most popular sport coupes of all time and redefines the Camaro for new generations of fans.

The Camaro Concept embodies the performance and passion that have made first-generation Camaros some of the most sought-after collector cars, updating the formula with a fuel-efficient powertrain, sophisticated chassis and contemporary design execution. The goal is to make the sport coupe relevant to younger enthusiasts while retaining its appeal to its current fans.

"Millions of people of all ages fell in love with the Camaro for all of the right reasons," said Ed Welburn, GM vice president, global design. "Camaros were beautiful to look at and offered performance that could rival expensive European GTs. Yet they were practical enough to drive every day and priced within the reach of many new car buyers."

Though only a show car at this point, the Camaro Concept is intended to explore customer reaction to design and engineering elements that might lead to an all-new version of the Camaro.

The long hood, short deck and wide stance of the Camaro Concept leave no doubt that it is a serious performance car. Those looks are backed up by a 400-horsepower aluminum small-bock V8, a six-speed manual transmission, and a sophisticated chassis with four-wheel independent suspension.

Like its forebears, the Camaro Concept would be practical enough for everyday use. It features fuel-saving features like Active Fuel Management™ cylinder deactivation technology, yielding highway fuel economy of 30 mpg or better. Its overall size is a comfortable fit for city streets and suburban parking lots, and its back seat provides occasional seating for two adults.

Chevrolet WTCC Ultra Concept

Chevrolet WTCC Ultra ConceptThe Chevrolet WTCC Ultra has got what it takes to be the star of the Paris Motor Show – and not just because its rear spoiler shoots so brashly up towards the heavens. The bold and aggressive design of the racecar study takes the Chevrolet body language to the extreme. "We wanted to explore the concept of a Chev-rolet muscle car reinvented for Europe," says David Lyon, Executive Director GM Asia-Pacific Design. "A concept that celebrates Chevy’s racing heritage with a very forward looking design."

The ready-to-drive concept car set to premiere in Paris was developed by a GM team around the globe. It is the vision of a new generation of touring car- a design icon that bends the present WTCC regulations. "In addition to the premiere of the Chevrolet WTCC Ultra, we are also celebrating our second victory in the World Touring Car Championship," says the boss of Chevrolet Europe, Wayne Brannon, referring to Rob Huff’s success in Brno in Czech Republic on September 3. "Our com-mitment to the WTCC is of enormous value for emotionalising the brand."

Chevrolet WTCC Ultra ConceptIn line with Chevrolet's diesel offensive, the compact WTCC Ultra (length / width / height with spoiler: 4,324 / 1,906 / 1,569 mm, wheelbase: 2,650 mm) is equipped with a powerful 1,991 cm3 diesel unit generating 139 kW / 190 hp. The basic version of the four-cylinder engine is the common rail unit with four-valve technology and variable turbine blade geometry currently powering the Chevrolet Captiva and due to go into the Epica from spring 2007. The increase in performance was achieved by raising the turbo boost pressure.

The WTCC Ultra has a sophisticated independent wheel suspension on McPherson struts on both axles. The lower wheel control at the front is taken care of by an A-frame arm, while at the back, two additional wishbones and one trailing arm link the wheels precisely to the chassis.

Chevrolet WTCC Ultra ConceptTo keep the unladen weight as low as possible, the designers of the WTCC Ultra have made plenty of use of modern lightweight materials. The body parts are finished in "Stealth Blue", a further development of the familiar Chevrolet blue, and are made of a glass fibre and carbon fibre laminate. The flat underbody of the fully functioning touring concept car, which also graphically divides up the vehicle because of its dark colour, and the front and rear spoilers are made of a plain weave carbon fibre composite. The window frames and the air inlet grilles at the front are finished in semi gloss dark grey. They make an attractive contrast with the glossy silver-painted wheels and the polished alu-minium door handles, number plate and centrally positioned tailpipes.

Another aerodynamic feature apart from the flat underbody and the spoilers is a rear dif-fuser to create additional downforce.

Chevrolet Tahoe Z71

Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 2007The powerful Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 takes the Tahoe to the next level with a redesigned front fascia featuring larger recovery hook openings, larger, more prominent rectangular fog lamps and specific grille texture and platinum chrome grille trim. Eighteen-inch wheels and on-road/off-road tyres also are part of the package.

For keen off-roaders, the approach angles of the popular Chevrolet Tahoe has increased to 24¡ and a skid plate added. This provides even better off road capabilities to this segment leading full-size SUV, which already delivers a sharp driving experience, increased interior refinement and segment-leading fuel economy.

"It is the first time that we offer the Z71 Off-Road package in the Middle East," said Samer El Khalil, Middle East marketing manager for Chevrolet SUVs. "The Z71 takes a vehicle that already delivers segment leadership in a number of areas and adds extreme off-road capability to safety, reliability, fuel efficiency and superior ride and handling."

Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 2007The 2007 Tahoe Z71 is built on GM's new full-size SUV platform, which incorporates features such as a new, fully boxed frame, coil-over-shock front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering and an all-new, premium interior system that bolsters the vehicle's comfort, quality and capability. Wider front and rear tracks enhance handling for a more confident road feel.

The Tahoe Z71 also features details such as spray-in expanding foam, which helps reduce noise by filling in space to eliminate sound paths. Tahoe's quietness and smoothness are complemented by capabilities that full-size SUV customers depend on.

Offering more power than ever before, the Vortec 5.3-litre V8 engine is rated at 355 hp and 504 Nm of torque with Active Fuel Management. When combined with other features, including improved aerodynamics, the small-block V8 helps give the Tahoe the segment's best fuel economy – 11.7 litres/100 km – better than any other full-size SUV.

The Tahoe Z71 receives a unique cluster appearance with Z71 badging. New and substantially revised features include power-release fold-and-tumble second-row seats, a remote vehicle starting system, Ultrasonic Rear Parking Assist, a Rearview camera system, a touch-screen navigation system and a DVD rear-seat entertainment system with 8-inch screen and enhanced features.

The Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 has a comprehensive package of standard and available safety features. New features, including roof-mounted head curtain side air bags with rollover protection for all seating rows, complement the stronger chassis and body structures to provide excellent passenger protection. For further protection, the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system with new roll-over mitigation technology is standard.

Chevrolet HHR Panel

Chevrolet HHR PanelThe 2007 Chevrolet HHR Panel, designed for a myriad commercial and private uses, adds a new dimension of functionality to the popular HHR's line-up of stylish, efficient vehicles.

The HHR Panel features windowless side panels and rear cargo doors in place of conventional rear doors. A flat load floor provides more than 57 cubic feet (1,614 L) of cargo space, along with approximately 6 cubic feet (170 L) of additional covered, under-floor storage.

"The HHR Panel is a model unlike anything else in the segment, and it continues HHR's mission of offering customers a bold, expressive, functional and different vehicle," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. "It's great for delivery companies and other small businesses, but we think auto enthusiasts will love it too, as it gives them a large canvas on which to express their individuality."

Chevrolet HHR PanelHHR Panel production is expected to start late in the first quarter of 2007. It will be offered in LS and LT trims, with 2.2L and 2.4L engines – both of which help the HHR deliver 30 mpg in highway driving.

"Business customers will see great value in the HHR Panel," said Peper. "There aren't many vehicles designed for commercial use that provide 30 mpg."

Chevrolet Groove Concept

Chevrolet Groove Concept 2007Inspired by a "half-soldier, half-modern" military helmet, the Chevrolet Groove concept is contemporary and funky, but evokes classic Chevrolet heritage design cues like an upright windshield and prominent fender flares that give the Groove a strong, sturdy stance reminiscent of a retro hot rod.

Groove lead exterior designer Jawook Koo, of the GM Design Centre in Inchon, South Korea, was seeking a mini design that was big on presence.

"I wanted to get out of the mini vehicles stereotype that is characterised by a weak, insecure and 'cute' appearance, so that consumers can feel safe just by looking at the vehicle," said Koo.

Chevrolet Groove Concept 2007The Groove's design conveys anything but weakness. The striking matte Lunar Quartz exterior finish contrasts with the strategic use of satin silver exterior chrome details. Big, five spoke 17 inch wheels pushed all the way to the rear give the impression of a vehicle that's much longer than it is, thanks to the short but pronounced hood and long, flat cabin, a design that provides for a roomy interior. Contrasting Vertigo brake callipers bring additional attention to the big wheels.

The front overhang includes open air vents that are integrated into the front LED fog lamps, and the elongated front headlamps further "lengthen" the vehicle.

Getting this front wheel drive concept in the Groove is a highly efficient, 1 litre diesel engine.

Chevrolet Caprice

Chevrolet CapriceGM Holden's export vehicle, the Australian built Chevrolet Caprice, has won the Best Luxury Car Award at the 2006 Autocar Middle East Awards.

The judging panel praised the all new Caprice which emerged after three days of solid testing as a clear winner from the other finalists in its class, the Volvo S80 V8 All wheel drive and the Lexus ES350.

The process undertaken by Autocar's team of expert judges involved three days and nearly 36 hours of analysing and testing.

"The Caprice represents unbeatable value given its list of standard features, size and that six litre V8 engine," Autocar Editor and chief judge, Damien Reid said.

"Given that it's an all new model, our judges were impressed by the improvement in build quality, ride and overall refinement over the previous model. As it was judged against its competitors the panel found this latest version had retained many qualities which makes this style of car so popular to Middle Eastern customers," Mr Reid added.

Chevrolet CapriceGM Holden dispatched its first shipment of all new generation export versions of Commodore, Statesman and Caprice to its largest export market, the Middle East, in September 2006.

The cars, prepared as the Chevrolet Lumina and Chevrolet Caprice, are exported throughout the Middle East as part of Australia's longest and largest automotive export program.

GM Holden Export Manager, Ms Emma Pinwill, said receiving the Best Luxury Car Award was an important milestone for GM Holden's export program to the Middle East.

"In 2005, more than 30,000 Holden vehicles were shipped to the Middle East. These cars became major sellers, which enabled Holden to invest $190 million in the development of the WM series.

"So it is a great honour to be recognized in the Middle East as our success there has supported GM Holden in taking the WM series to a whole new level of design and engineering." Ms Pinwill said.

In 2005 Holden last year exported 60,518 vehicles around the world, a record for GM Holden since its export program started in 1954. Cars were sent to every continent except Antarctica.

Chevrolet Trax Concept

Chevrolet Trax Concept 2007Active buyers who want to get in touch with their sportier side – or who just want to navigate the urban jungle in a sportier ride – will make tracks to the Chevrolet Trax, an urban front wheel drive crossover concept with a twist: This micro SUV has an electric limited slip differential that features an independent battery pack and an electric motor to drive the rear wheels, providing a low cost all wheel drive system.

The four door Trax is bathed in a Blaze Orange exterior finish, with rugged Burnt Orange accents on the front and rear corners that reinforce the notion this Chevrolet is all business despite its small size. Simple door lines make getting in and out easier and fold flat rear seats add functionality.

Other features that suit its dynamic and off road character include a voluminous, single unit bumper and fender in front and rear, a pronounced front wheel arch shape, dynamic side character lines, a rear mounted spare tyre and roof rack. Brake callipers in Flame Yellow infuse additional attitude. The package rides on 16 inch wheels and Kumho tyres for precise ride and handling.

Chevrolet Trax Concept 2007The Trax is powered by a 1 litre gasoline engine.

"The Trax is a vehicle that you can show off anywhere, be it off road or on the road," said Sangyeon Cho, manager of the minicar exterior design team at the GM Design Centre in Inchon, South Korea. "It brings a rational combination of SUV design, function, performance and value to the consumer."

Chevrolet Malibu

Chevrolet Malibu 2008For the second consecutive year, a car from General Motors Corporation has taken top honours in the North American Car and Truck of the Year (NACTOY) awards, as announced today at the opening of the North American International Auto Show (Dubai, United Arab Emirates).

The Chevrolet Malibu was chosen by this year's media jury from a field of 15 cars and 13 trucks. GM vehicles captured four of the final six candidate spots for the awards; last year the Saturn Aura and Chevrolet Silverado were winners.

"This award is the result of our intensive efforts to put a renewed emphasis on design, execution and craftsmanship into our cars and trucks," said Bob Lutz, GM vice chairman. "We're honoured that both automotive journalists and consumers are recognizing our efforts. The fact we had four of the six finalist vehicles is more than we could have hoped for."

Chevrolet Malibu 2008The NACTOY awards are given annually by prominent automotive journalists who evaluate the vehicles on factors including value for the dollar, innovation, handling, performance, safety and driver satisfaction. This year's jury consisted of 45 automotive journalists from throughout the United States and Canada.

The 2008 Chevrolet Malibu delivers strong performance, fuel economy and refinement, wrapped in Chevrolet's global signature design. A broad range of detailed, well-appointed and efficient models is offered, including a fuel-saving Malibu Hybrid model. Sales of the new Malibu began last November.

"Our goal with the 2008 Malibu was to give customers a stylish, uncompromising package that can challenge even the most formidable competitors in the midsize segment," said Ed Peper, Chevrolet general manager. "Customers are getting that message, because the new Malibus are selling faster than we can put them on dealers' lots."

In November 2007 the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) signed an agreement with General Motors for the operation of ten hybrid vehicles, of which five will be the hybrid Chevrolet Malibu. The agreement came as a first step in a government-initiated comprehensive plan to reduce pollution caused by vehicle exhaust systems, and to make all vehicles in Dubai friendly to the environment.

Chevrolet Aveo

Chevrolet Aveo 2008The new three-door Chevrolet Aveo celebrates its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show (March 6–16, 2008). With this debut, Chevrolet is consequently renewing its successful compact class family. The five-door version that premiered at the Frankfurt Show in September 2007 will go on sale in March. The most significant features of both models are their striking exterior, high-class interior and a new, even more efficient gasoline engine. Like its notchback stable mate, the new hatchback models will now bear the name Aveo throughout Europe. European dealers will have the dynamic three-door hatchback in their showrooms from June 2008.

Buyers will have a choice of two gasoline engines: a new 1.2-litre unit, now with two overhead camshafts and an output of 84 hp, and the upgraded 1.4-litre engine, which now develops 101 hp. The bigger unit is available with automatic transmission. Both engines are even more frugal than their predecessors when it comes to fuel consumption. For example, despite the fact that its performance has improved by 12 hp, the basic engine will now need roughly 14 per cent less fuel in the MVEG fuel efficiency comparison.

The Aveo is playing a key role in the success story of Chevrolet Europe: Over 440,000 cars of the compact-class family have been sold since 2002. With a 25 percent share of the model mix (2007), it is also the biggest seller in the Chevrolet range.

Chevrolet Cobalt SS

Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2008Powered by a 260-horsepower (194 kW) turbocharged and intercooled 2.0 litre Ecotec engine, the Cobalt SS delivers a balance of track-proven performance capability, driving refinement and premium features. Offered exclusively with a five-speed manual transmission, it is also an efficient performer, delivering an estimated 30 mpg in highway driving – the best among top competitors.

The Cobalt SS delivers a quick 0-60 mph time of approximately 5.7 seconds – thanks to the engine's "no-lift shift" calibration – and an impressive maximum lateral grip of 0.9 g. This combination enabled the Cobalt SS to set a new class record when running the famed Nurburgring racing circuit, posting a time of 8:22.85 minutes.

Ride and handing are supported by an all-new FE5 Sport suspension, with specific stabiliser bars, spring rates and damper tuning – all designed to complement the high-output turbocharged powertrain and mitigate afflictions such as torque steer. Driver-selectable modes help maximise performance whether on the street or track.

Chevrolet Cobalt SS 2008Four-wheel disc brakes with standard ABS help ensure the car stops as confidently as it accelerates and corners. The front brakes are from Brembo and have a performance-oriented, fixed-calliper design, which resists fade better than floating calliper designs; the rear discs are vented for better heat dissipation. Large, twin-five-spoke 18-inch forged aluminium wheels and performance tyres are standard. They're mounted on 225/40-series Continental summer tyres.

The Cobalt SS is also equipped with a host of standard safety features, including the StabiliTrak electronic stability control system and side-impact air bags.

The Cobalt SS is distinguished on the exterior with several unique features, including a distinctive, air dam-style front fascia with integrated projector-beam fog lamps. New front upper and lower grilles sport an SS-specific diamond-mesh appearance; and SS-specific rockers and badging adorn the body sides.

A standard deck lid spoiler can be replaced with an optional high-wing aero enhancement. Also at the rear is a prominent, bright-tip exhaust outlet.

Inside the Cobalt SS are SS-embroidered sport seats with suede-like UltraLux inserts, a specific gauge cluster, an A-pillar-mounted turbo boost gauge and a specific shifter arrangement.

The Cobalt SS coupe is expected to arrive in U.S. dealerships in late April 2008.

The Lacetti Sport, based on the popular five-door version of Chevrolet's mid-sized hatchback, is instantly identifiable thanks to its smart factory-fitted body styling kit. It also comes with body coloured trim, stylish 15-inch alloy wheels, lowered suspension and integrated front fog lamps.

Equipment highlights include air conditioning, a cooled glove box, four electric windows, electrically adjustable mirrors and a six-speaker Blaupunkt CD/Radio with steering wheel-mounted controls.

Chevrolet Lacetti Sport 2008Power comes from a lively 1.8-litre 121 PS (89 kW) petrol engine, which gives the Sport the ability to sprint from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 9.8 seconds, with a top speed of 121 mph (195 km/h).

Yet despite the lively performance, the Lacetti Sport returns respectably good fuel economy – up to 47.8 mpg on the extra-urban cycle, 38.1 mpg combined and 28.5 mpg urban. CO2 emissions are 183 g/km.

Lacetti owners can also benefit from Chevrolet's fixed price servicing package – for a one-off payment of £199, it covers all of the car's maintenance costs for the first three years or 30,000-miles.

The Lacetti Sport is available from Chevrolet retailers now (UK), where it joins the newly launched Aveo supermini and Epica family saloon, both of which add further breadth to the rapidly growing Chevrolet line-up. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 427 LE

Chevrolet Corvette Z06 427 LE 2008The 60's gave rise to many great memories. One of them is undoubtedly the 'big-block' Corvette Stingray. With the introduction of the Corvette 427 Limited Edition (LE) Z06, Corvette is also awakening memories – in an exclusive way. It is building 505 of these limited edition vehicles, of which only 52 will be coming to Europe.

The number 427 refers to the cylinder capacity in the American unit of measurement, cubic inches. In the years 1966 to '69, the most powerful Corvette engines had this capacity – also the cubic inches equivalent to the 7.0 litre LS7 'small block' in the current Z06.

The special limited edition of the Z06 is characterised by a number of unique 427 styling features, such as the Crystal Red Tintcoat metallic paint with 'stinger style' graphics, exclusive chromed rims, a leather interior with embroidered 427 logo on the seats and floor mats, 'Z06' inscription in the sill strips, and a centre armrest with serial number and signature by Corvette factory director Wil Cooksey.

Chevrolet Camaro

2010 Chevrolet CamaroGeneral Motors today unveiled the production version of the much anticipated new Chevrolet Camaro that is due to go on sale in North America next year.

In Melbourne, the Australian-based designers and engineers involved in the new heritage-inspired coupe held their own reveal event at GM Holden's headquarters in Port Melbourne, giving a first glimpse of the iconic sports car that underwent much of its development and testing on Australian roads.

The new Camaro exemplifies GM's global development process with the design concept originating in the United States; engineering directed by GM's global rear-wheel-drive team in Australia; validation conducted on roads around the world; and assembly to take place in Canada.

2010 Chevrolet CamaroJoining onlookers at the reveal was reigning V8 Supercar Champion and Camaro enthusiast, Garth Tander, who brought his own 1969 Camaro SS to Port Melbourne to meet the newest member of the Chevrolet family. Members of the Melbourne-based Camaro Car Club also joined the celebration by bringing their historical vehicles to the display.

With GM's global rear-wheel drive team based in Australia, much of the design and engineering work for the new Camaro was undertaken in Victoria, giving this vehicle an important place in Australia's automotive history.

The new Chevrolet Camaro combines great looks and performance; advanced technology and surprising efficiency.

2010 Chevrolet CamaroEd Peper, GM North America Vice President for Chevrolet, said the Camaro delivered all of the things that make Chevrolet such a revered, global brand.

"It competes with the world's best sports cars and does so with styling, fuel economy and value our competitors simply can't match.

"The new Chevrolet Camaro delivers a thoroughly modern, advanced package of performance, comfort and technology.

"It's a sports car for a new generation of enthusiasts that doesn't forget the heritage that helped make the original a cultural icon. That is no small feat and it took a worldwide commitment to achieve it," Peper said.

2010 Chevrolet CamaroAustralian, Peter Hughes, Camaro Exterior Design Manager, said they made sure there were many elements and cues that remained distinctly Camaro to make the new model instantly recognisable.

"We're incredibly proud of how faithful the production version is to the original concept. This is a 21st century sports car that acknowledges its iconic heritage, while at the same time is smoothly integrated into a very contemporary exterior," Hughes said.

Details such as frameless door windows contribute to the overall feeling of quality, substance and technical prowess.

A well-executed balance of heritage, modern design and attention to detail also characterises the Camaro's interior. A pair of deeply recessed instrument binnacles that feature round gauges in square housings gives a nod to classic Camaros.

2010 Chevrolet CamaroLarge, chrome-trimmed controls, low-gloss surfaces and premium fabric or acrylic appliqués convey a richness that is unprecedented in previous Camaro models – and challenge its contemporary competitors.

Advanced powertrain technologies, including engines with direct injection and Active Fuel Management, give the vehicle a balance of exhilarating performance and good fuel economy.

Gene Stefanyshyn, GM's Global Vehicle Line Executive, who led the Australian-based engineering team on this project, said they had four key objectives when creating the new Chevrolet Camaro.

"The first was to create a bold and beautifully styled vehicle – inside and out. The second was to ensure it had the ride, handling and performance dynamics of a true sports car. The third was to create a vehicle which boasts pristine quality. Finally, we wanted to back all this with outstanding value," Stefanyshyn said.

"This vehicle exhibits the depth and capability of our Design and Engineering teams here in Australia and I am incredibly proud of what they have achieved to help make this vehicle a reality."

Under the bonnet of the new Camaro is an advanced, efficient 3.6L direct-injected V6 with variable valve timing which is standard on LS and LT models. Direct injection technology helps the engine deliver more power through increased efficiency, while maintaining fuel economy and lowering hydrocarbon emissions.

The high-performance Camaro SS is equipped with a powerful 6.2L V8, with a choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Standard, manual transmission-equipped models receive the LS3 engine, which uses high-flow cylinder heads based on the Corvette Z06's LS7 engine enabling great low-end torque and high-rpm power.

A new, L99 V8 engine is used on automatic transmission-equipped SS models. This is based on the LS3 and carries all of its high-performance design features, but also includes GM's fuel-saving Active Fuel Management feature. This enables the engine to run on only four cylinders during light-load driving conditions, such as highway cruising, to improve fuel economy.

Sales begin in North America in the first quarter of 2009.

Chevrolet CSV CR8

Chevrolet CSV CR8Chevrolet is introducing to the region (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) the world's first production "track-day" car at the Bahrain International Circuit and the car will be displayed at the highly anticipated 9th Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai in mid November. The Chevrolet Special Vehicle (CSV CR8) is one of the most aggressive, unyielding high-performance cars on the market, and customers had better be prepared for the sheer exhilaration that 400 bhp provides.

The thing about CSV CR8 is that it only attracts the type of buyer who wants to experience everything the 6.0-litre V8 will give them. Even though it can be just as easily driven on the road, this Chevrolet's natural habitat is on the circuit, and that's where it shines brightest. This is a car that everyone will want but most will only dream of.

The CSV CR8 is a precise, credible machine with its efficient mechanism and phenomenal acceleration and engine performance. What's more, there's no mistaking its thoroughbred race character from its aggressive exterior styling.

Chevrolet CSV CR8 2008The powertrain incorporates a 400 hp at 6000 rpm engine – sourced from the ultra-competitive Corvette and the weighty matter of 550 Nm of torque at 4400 rpm for scintillating track performance.

Riding on 19-inch low-profile wheels, the CSV CR8 is hard to miss with its large fender vents that are unique to the model. This leads on to an aggressive and distinctive front fascia with projector headlamps, duel driving lights and a prominent CSV badge to warn others of its explosive performance.

At the back, the CR8 is equipped with a meaty quad-exhaust system with bold wind diffuser, a bold, sport-style LED tail lamps with 3-D effect blend into the sports rear wing and between front and back, there are unique side skirts.

Chevrolet CSV CR8 2008Safety is most important when travelling at the high speeds that the CSV CR8 is capable of. Hence, the massive brakes, with brake assist and electronic brake-force distribution, are capable of guiding the car to a standstill from 100 km/h in just 36 metres. This puts the car among the best in this segment.

Alongside ESP, traction control and two-stage driving lights that significantly improve visibility, passive safety features include front and side airbags and active head restraints.

Meanwhile, the cabin shows off its CSV racing pedigree with distinctive leather seats with strong bolster design and lateral support, a CSV-developed steering wheel with grooves that give extra grip and a true race-car feel, and branded instruments with three information windows and white dials.

As a true Chevrolet, the CSV CR8 doesn't come with a supercar price tag; it rather offers the most up-to-date technology and engineered precision at the most value price.
